Layne is regarded as one of the world’s most successful athletes, having been on the pro tour for 19 years and winning seven world titles. She is the only surfer in history to win six consecutive world titles - five of which she says were won in a state of fear and the other two in a state of love. Since retiring from professional surfing, Layne has channelled her ‘tiger shark’ intensity to continue fighting for causes close to her heart, including the protection of the ocean. As Chair of Surfing Australia and ambassador for the Black Dog Institute and RUOK? DAY, Layne is also committed to supporting people through their mental health challenges. |
